Are You A Junk Yard Dog?
“If you are a junkyard dog, you assume that this is what life is: chained up, barking all day.” ~Bruce Robinson
Who (or what) made you so cold?
If a butterfly visited you today after years of not seeing one, would you chase it away? Try to capture it? Watch it to pass the time?
Something made a junk yard dog…a junk yard dog. They start off very trusting, loyal even. Perhaps they become abused or misused. Some are taught to be feisty because their food source is still the person who hurt them to begin with.
They simply don’t know how to distinguish love from survival.
Many of are carrying years of baggage and it affects people around us. They get bit! Our anger has graduated to bitterness, eating away at us like a cancer but we are not ready or able to get off the chain. It is a case of choosing between the known and the unknown. The choices are obvious to everyone looking in at the dog, but not apparent to the abused.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get to the root:
- Do I want more for me?
- Do I even want out?
- How do I get out of here?
- Have I been presented options (no matter how small) but I ignore them because they don’t seem big enough?
